Description:
     Rosulate plants. Inflorescence a richly branched, congested synflorescence; spathes caducous; florescence component of a single cymule. Cymule ± distinctly dolichoblastic, without interphyll, bracteole 1 (rarely 2), glandular. Corolla tube ca. 1/2 the length of the lobes; outer staminodes 2 (1), often markedly unequal, subulate and erect; cucullate staminode with 2 branched appendage, branches ± equal, divergent; ovary with 3 ovulate locules. Geographical Distribution:
     West Africa, the Congo Basin, Sudan and Uganda.

Taxonomic Diversity:
     Comprises about four species.
